Next Moot – Sat 5th June 2021 – Beccles

Come to Beccles on Saturday, 5th June, to celebrate the return of our Moots. This is now a weekend moot with speakers in Blyburgate Hall from 12 noon. Trains run to Beccles, which has B&Bs and a nearby campsite. After an Opening Ceremony orchestrated by Val Thomas and Chris Wood, hear Sue Pine talk about East Anglian Leys. Learn about the Stonehenge Zodiac from Fionn Rawnsleyn and of Jill Smith’s adventures on the Gypsy Switch before Ann and Steve Dawson explain the Hartman and Curry Lines. Sue Pine will lead a walk through Beccles. Sunday 6th June, will see us on a coach trip to investigate the southern end of the Iceni (Durga & Rudra) Ley from Dunwich to Mettingham Castle, then we’ll follow the Dragon Ley, Michael & Mary Serpents from Bunghay to Hopton-on-sea. OS Explorer maps OL40 and 231 will be useful. The cost is £65 (cheque payable to the Network of Ley Hunters – send to Laurence Main 9 Mawddwy Cottages, Minllyn, Dinas Mawddwy, Machynlleth, SY20 9LW). Centenary of Alfred Watkins’ revelation of leys – Wednesday 30th June 2021

“The whole thing came to me in a flash” at Blackwardine Crossroads (SO 532 563 on OS Explorer 202). Please don’t try to selfishly park a car there! We are running a COACH (Yeoman’s Travel) departing from Hereford railway station at 12 noon and returning there by 2:30 pm (fitting in with the Cathedrals Express Train from London Paddington via Reading, Oxford & Manchester). 3rd-7th September 2021 – Portland, Dorset

Trains run to Weymouth then good local bus service to Portland.  Arrive in Portland on Friday 3rd for an optional visit to the Quarry Trust workshop/memory stones plus talk by Hannah Sofaer and Paul Crabtree – 17:00-sunset.  Budget accomodation at Portland YMCA (01305 823761) – Book Now! 

Saturday 4th: Moot in St George’s Centre, Portland with speakers: Gary Biltcliffe (Spirit of Portland), Penny Billington (Druidry), Roma Harding, Jerry Bird, Yuri Leitch, Jonathan Harwood and Serena Roney-Dougal (New talk on her latest research) – plus stalls.  

Sunday 5th: Walk on Portland with Garry Biltcliffe and Caraoline Hoare (local bus fare to pay).

Monday 6th: our own 33 seat coach and driver with Gary and Caroline to Cerne Abbas and Maiden Castle.

Tuesday 7th: our own 33 seat coach and driver with Roma Harding guiding us in the Abbottsbury area.

All tickets have gone for the coach trips on Monday and Tuesday.

Late May 2022 – Longtown, Herefordshire

Alfred Watkins country and parts of Wales (e.g. Llanthony Priory).  Our own 22 seat coach and driver for six exciting day trips plus between Hereford Railway station and Longtown on the two Saturdays.  Plus a talk in Longtown Village Hall on the Saturday (19:30-21:30) by astrologer, broadcaster and author Pamela Armstrong on ‘How Your Sun Sign Shapes Your Experience of the Landscape’ (www.astrotimemaps.com).
